Hunting and Swans
Went hunting to the Bay Islands with Dave Sikorsk and Bobby and Dave Connolly. We have not seen good numbers of ducks this year, despite the best weather conditions in the last 3 seasons. However, we were able to shoot a few ducks on this outing, including a widgeon for Dave Connelly, his first:
We had a few swan decoys out in our duck rig. Swans are illegal to shoot in MD, however, hunters use swan decoys as "confidence decoys". Ducks see swans and know the swans are eating grass, meaning there is food. There are plenty of swans where we were, and they loved our decoys:
This swan was totally fooled, he came within 20 yards of our blind:
